Therefore the fundamental problem, as far as I am able to make out after so many years, is that the human mind likes the idea of external gods, because they leave us here and they go away to their heaven, and we are okay, you know. We can do our daily lives, pretending that He is not looking at us- number one. We are used to the temple ritual-you go there once a week, or once a year, or once a month, or at need. Babuji Maharaj said, "Excuse me, this is a vulgar statement that I am going to make, but we go to the temples or places of worship like we go to the toilet-at need." We are used to that. We go, put our money in the hundi [collection box] or light a candle or do whatever is necessary, and we come back relieved, though in our heart of heart we are asking the question, has that any meaning in my life? Has that any significance? Does my going to the temple or church make any difference to me? Because I, still feel here my guilt. In Sahaj Marg Babuji said, "Guilt is the biggest samskara. Because whatever you may have done, you have done once. But when you go on thinking about it again and again and again, you are deepening that guilt-what we call impression, becomes samskara." It is almost like this idea in geology that things become fossils, fossilised rocks. So that is what happens. Chariji
